Nambudripad, Dr. Devi S.: a California acupuncturist, chiropractor, and a kinesiologist who developed NAET in an attempt to relieve herself of severe allergic symptoms suffered since her birth in Kerala, South India. National Adrenal Diseases Foundation: a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, information and education to individuals having Addison's disease as well as other diseases of the adrenal glands. Although Addison's disease is considered a rare disease, it is estimated that at least 10,000 individuals in the United States have this condition (this is probably an underestimation). Novocain: a local anesthetic that is very useful in producing a loss of feeling immediately prior to surgery or dental procedures. The drug is applied through injection of a solution and is relatively short-acting. Due to the high rate of allergenic reactions observed by clinical use of Novocain, the drug has been largely replaced with similar pharmaceuticals (such as Lidocaine) having less potent side effects. There are a number of drugs closely related to Novocain that are also excellent anesthetics including Lidocaine, Propoxycaine, Tetracaine, Prilocaine and Etidocaine.
