July 2005
July began as had June, with surgery: this time for reconstructive surgery addressing the circular hole in my face created by the MOHS procedure three days earlier. My primary concern was how my left shoulder pain (and sling) might interfere with this surgery. I was glad that both the melanoma and shoulder problems were on my left side. Getting in and out of bed and various hospital contraptions would have been much more problematic if they were on opposite sides.

The reconstructive surgery lasted roughly 2.5 hours. I was awake for it, having been given a local anesthetic. Returning home later that evening, I experienced some pain around the surgical site, my left cheek, but it diminished significantly in subsequent days.

My left shoulder pain continued as did my sleep difficulties. While I was most grateful to be able to sleep lying down, I could not stay asleep longer than 2-3 hours at a time.

Approximately one month after the reconstructive surgery, the stitches were removed—a relatively painless process, much to my surprise. Rather than a half-dollar-size hole in my face, the scar is in the shape of a 7, except the long leg is on the top extending from my sideburn, across the cheek bone under my eye to where my nose starts. The short leg extends downward at an angle away from my nose, ending roughly parallel to my mouth. By the end of December, the scar is visible but not that noticeable.

My sleep problems continued during this period: two-five hours sleeping, one-four hours awake during the night. Occasionally, two nights in a row of seven-ten hours of sleep, with only one or two bathroom breaks. The trend is for longer periods of sleep during this timeframe. I need a nap those afternoons following the nights when I get less than six hours of sleep. But I am very pleased that I am functional most of the time.

My ear ringing continues non-stop, just louder at times. My hearing is not that good, probably because of the ringing. The fungus on my torso and arms persists as well, except during these six months it significantly diminished on my arms but expanded around my back.

I visit the energetic technologist in hopes of addressing some of my ailments. And I begin seeing a different dermatologist, one who believes that if it is worth taking a picture of it (my former dermatologist), it is worth removing.

I have a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan to determine if cancer can be detected anywhere in my body. The results are negative. I undertake Meridian Energy Analysis Device (MEAD) testing in order to help a naturopath have more insight into my situation. (LINKS)

The remedies I am taking are numerous and daunting: sometimes I feel as though I don’t need meals I’m so full of this stuff. But I have seen them work wonders on other folks, so I persist. Fear is a great motivator when all else fails, at least for me.

August 2005
This month I begin frequent acupuncture treatments for my shoulder. In contrast to my right shoulder surgery with a different acupuncturist, up to 15 needles are placed in my shoulder with some of them hooked up to an electronic device. I can really feel the difference. Not only does the pain in my shoulder significantly diminish for a few hours my physical therapy progresses much more rapidly and less painfully than my right shoulder. This is also in spite of the surgery being much more extensive than the one performed on my right shoulder.

While getting out of a car my back went out. I went to the orthogonal chiropractor for the first time since my shoulder surgery, and he performed various adjustments. I think he was more nervous doing the adjustments than I, in light of the recent shoulder surgery, but all went very well.

During this month, I also visited the energetic technologist who used the CORE device http://www.energetic-medicine.net/core.html. Once again, these energetic, or biofeedback, devices are impressive to watch, but I am not sure if they are helping me. They are like so many of the remedies I have taken, I believe they have contributed to my well-being, but rarely can I immediately tell: just like antibiotics and other medicines.

My hearing seems to be getting worse as does my memory. Joint and back pains are increasing as well as skin rawness and fatigue. I think the surgeries, medications, various procedures, and stress have taken a toll.

I have a Hematology and Coagulation lab analysis performed and a Doctors Data Hair Elements test. (LINKS) Yet another MEAD analysis is performed prior to visiting the naturopath/acupuncturist and an NES assessment by the energetic technologist as well.

September 2005
This month continues with fatigue, decreased memory, joint pain, skin rawness, and ear ringing. I visit an intuitive that seems to be gifted. Time will tell. I continue with the acupuncture treatments to not only my left shoulder but my right as well. I can really tell the difference. Throughout these months, I need to take particular care to drain and remineralize well. Without adequate drainage, the various toxins in my body will reabsorb, perhaps to places where they are a greater risk to me than from whence they were originally located.

I have a neural transmitter and extensive blood tests performed. (LINKS)

October 2005
I continue acupuncture treatments but at a significantly reduced frequency. My physical therapy has really progressed well. For the first time since my left shoulder surgery in May I slept all night for seven hours. It really felt great. Unfortunately, the troubled sleep pattern returned.

Contrary to the trend over the past decade, I had a genital herpes outbreak that lasted for two weeks: they had been decreasing. I visited a dermatologist who removed 19 items from various parts of my body: hand, back, knees, and face. All of the biopsied tissue tested negative. Toward the end of the month, I began coughing, sometimes uncontrollably. It lasted into December.

November 2005
My cough continued into this month. Once again, prior to visiting the naturopath/acupuncturist, I tested with the MEAD. I also continued the electro-acupuncture treatments for my shoulder.  The remedies I have been taking have dramatically reduced in number and frequency. Those remaining are primarily Sanums and flora-enhancing. I also visit the energetic technologist who has been so very supportive throughout my sojourn.

December 2005
I visit the acupuncturist for my last left shoulder treatment. My shoulder has progressed so much better than my earlier right shoulder recovery. Another MEAD analysis prior to seeing the naturopath and my remedy intake changes significantly: much more focused on endocrine, skin, and neural transmitter issues. I also had meridian clearing performed by a French-trained doctor who used a French manufactured device. It lasted for roughly five hours and his testing the next day indicated that my meridians were indeed cleared.

For years my face had shed skin, particularly my forehead: it seemed like layers would flake off or virtually peel while I was taking a shower. It had significantly decreased over the past year, but it returned this month. The cough that started in October stopped late in this month, and scabby bumps appear regularly on my torso and lower legs.
